WTTW: Firsthand: Living in Poverty

Living in Poverty is part of the award-winning FIRSTHAND multiplatform, multi-year initiative focusing on the firsthand perspectives of people facing critical issues in Chicago. ... 15-part documentary series following five people living in poverty during the summer/fall of 2020.

BFF paired with WTTW and many other foundations to fund this important, award-winning series. WTTW received two Midwest Emmy Awards in the category for Outstanding Achievement for Community Affairs Programming for the earlier seasons of Firsthand -- both Firsthand: Gun Violence and Firsthand: Coronavirus, Since launch, the series has received nearly 60,000 video views on our program website and WTTW’s Facebook page, and our reach is further extended through more than 300,000 social media impressions. Additionally, the series has been featured onWBEZ, as well as in the Chicago Tribune and Austin Weekly News.
